Several rumors have circulated on the Internet during last week before Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner decided to officially confirm their split after four years of marriage.
Some days ago, the TMZ portal published that Jonas was filing for divorce from Turner and asking for joint custody of their 2 daughters, 3-year-old Willa and their 1-year-old. An surprising separation to their fans, taking into account that the actress of Game of Thrones was supporting the singer just three weeks ago during the Jonas Brothers Tour and that Joe showed his wedding ring in their latest concert with the band. However, first rumors pointed to an incompatibility in the lifestyles of the couple: «She likes to party, he likes to stay at home. They have very different lifestyles,” declared a direct source to the aforementioned outlet.
Now Turner and Jonas have just posted a joint statement on their respective social media profiles, confirming the rumors and clarifying that this is a “united” and “amicable” decision.
“After four wonderful years of marriage, we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage”, it starts. The rest of the communication seems to be directed to denying reports that one of either of the parties was responsible for this situation. “There are many speculative narratives as to why but, truly, it is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children”, they add.
Even though various versions of the reasons that could have led to one of Hollywood’s popular couples separation have flooded the media and social networks, some outlets some also dared to question some of the information extracted by TMZ, which also claimed that the couple’s daughters had had to live with their father while he was on tour.
Buzzfeed has clarified that it is Turner who had always declared herself a «Homebody,» preferring to be at home, wanting to spend time with the «social butterfly» that is Jonas. In fact, in quarantine, she herself – while secretly six months pregnant – told in an interview that during quarantine she brought the singer alcohol to brighten up his days.
The two superstars met back in 2016 when Joe slid into Sophie’s Instagram DMs. They got engaged just a year later and got married in 2019. In 2020, they became parents together, welcoming their first child, Wila. Their second daughter was born in July of last year.
Some sad news to love in Hollywood, but we really wish them the best. And if the best for them is going separate ways, it’s really the best decision.
