James Corden said goodbye to ‘The Late Late Show’ last Thursday after 8 years and nearly 1,200 programs on air. Following a week of intense emotions that we had already seen in the last episode of Carpool Karaoke with his friend Adele or the nostalgic recall of Billie Eilish’s TV debut on the show, Corden took the opportunity to dedicate some kind words to his audience.
“I struggle to find the words to sum up what these past 8 years have meant to me. I don’t know where to start. I sit here today with nothing but love, gratitude and pride. This show is everything I’ve ever wanted it to be”, he said with teary eyes. His words of gratitude were mostly directed to the show’s team: producers, writers, editors, and, of course, Reggie and the band.
“I’m just one part of a big team who made this show, this incredible family here who have made The Late Late Show what it is. Thank you to everybody that works on this show from the bottom of my heart for the love and dedication you have given to make it what it is today. I love every single one of you. This was never my show, it was ours, and I’m going to miss every one of you. Reggie, I love you so much man for putting together this incredible band”, he added.
Corden wanted to end his final speech with a serious note, bringing some cheery and positive words to the public due to the generalized feeling of negativity he has felt in the country in recent years.

“I implore you to remember what America signifies to the rest of the world, a place of optimism and joy. It has flaws, but tell me a country that doesn’t, tell me a person that doesn’t. If someone disagrees with you, it does not make them bad or evil. We are all more alike than we are different, and there are so many people that are trying to make a difference. We have to try as best we can to look for the light. That’s what this show has always been about”, he concluded.
We already know about Corden’s vocals, so he wanted to give a musical final touch to a very moving night. And nothing better than one of his ingenious catchy songs!
‘This is our show’ was the main verse of this funny melody, in which he thanked again the entire team and audience. He even said that the things he will miss the most from L.A. will be the weather, his friends, and the micro-green salads!

We are not going to deny that we ended the night holding back our tears, but these years watching James Corden and his team on air has been simply awesome.
Can’t wait to see him in another future amazing project, just like The Late Late Show has been!
