Elton John was hospitalized on Sunday night after suffering a fall at his villa in Mont-Boron (Nice). He was examined in the orthopedic department of Princess Grace Hospital in Monaco.
The singer has been spending the summer in France with his husband David Furnish and their two children after concluding their Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour in July.

Elton, the 76-year-old music legend, was last seen enjoying a relaxing day on his yacht with several celebrities in St. Tropez on August 22, prior to his accident.
A representative for Elton confirmed in a statement: «We can confirm that following a slip yesterday at his home in the south of France, Elton visited the local hospital as a precautionary measure. Following checkups –which included a brain scan and a lumbar scan, that revealed no fractures–, he was immediately discharged this morning (on Monday) and his now back at home and in good health.»
Elton has decided to retire from touring to spend more time with David and their children. Although he hasn’t ruled out releasing new music in the future, he mentioned that tours are exhausting and keep him away from his family and kids.
However, he added that he hasn’t completely abandoned performances and might still do an occasional show now and then.
Family holds immense significance for John, who previously described his children as ‘the most wonderful aspect’ of his life, alongside his husband David.
During his appearance on Ellen DeGeneres’ show in 2016, he expressed: «If you’d had said to me 10 years ago I’d be sitting on your show married to the man I love and have two beautiful children I would have said you put acid in my drink… There are no words to describe how much we love these boys. They are just amazing.»
On his 75th birthday, Elton wrote a letter to his sons published in Time magazine. In this heartfelt letter, he referred to them as his ‘proudest achievements’.
Zachary and Elijah, you two are the greatest gifts I have ever been given. You have filled my heart with love and my life with purpose and meaning in ways I didn’t think were possible. You are my proudest achievements, and I love you both so, so much … Whoever you grow up to be, just be you –fully and completely you.”
We’re really happy that Elton John is doing well, and he can still have a great time with his family.
