Danna’s Beginnings

At only four years old, the Mexican artist made her debut on the popular children’s TV show, Plaza Sésamo. This marked the beginning of her journey towards more significant opportunities in the entertainment industry. She soon secured roles in well-known telenovelas such as Rayito de luz and María Belén. Her exceptional performances and a level of maturity beyond her years earned her critical acclaim and a rapidly growing fan base. Notably, she also appeared on the widely recognized TV show La familia P. Luche, alongside Eugenio Derbez.

In 2004, she took the lead role in Amy, la niña de la mochila azul and also made a special appearance in Alebrijes y Rebujos during the same year. However, it was in 2009 that she achieved remarkable popularity with her role in the Mexican adaptation of the Argentine series Patito Feo, titled Atrévete a Soñar. Her performance in this telenovela earned her the TVyNovelas Awards for Best Young Actress and Best Musical Theme.

Beginnings of Musical Journey

Danna Paola simultaneously pursued a career as a singer. After her role in the telenovela María Belén, she caught the attention of Universal Music México due to her talent. Surprisingly, at the age of just six, she was offered a record contract. In 2001, she took her first step into the music world with the release of her debut album, Mi Globo Azul, which featured eleven children’s songs. Her musical journey continued as she released her second studio album, Océano, in 2004, followed by her third album, Chiquita Pero Picosa, in 2005.

As she entered adulthood, the «Oye Pablo» singer began to outgrow her child star image and embarked on a journey to expand her artistic horizons. In 2012, still signed with Universal Music Mexico, she released her fourth studio album, simply titled Danna Paola.

Wicked

Fast forward to 2013, when she was just 17 years old, she took on her most challenging role yet in the musical Wicked. Prior to the musical’s debut, there were doubts about her singing abilities, but her performance defied expectations. She left both audiences and critics in awe with her impressive vocal range and commanding stage presence. This moment marked a turning point in her career, propelling her to international recognition and earning her well-deserved acclaim for her portrayal of Elphaba.

Élite

In 2018, she took on a significant role in the well-known Netflix series Élite, where she portrayed the character Lucrecia ‘Lu’ Montesinos Hendrich. This role was a major stepping stone for her international career. However, despite the show’s increasing popularity, Danna made the decision to step away. During an interview on the Spanish program ‘El Hormiguero,’ she explained that she felt like she was leading a double life, similar to the fictional character Hannah Montana, who had to balance both singing and acting. Ultimately, Danna chose to focus on her music career.

In August 2020, she collaborated with artists Denise Rosenthal and Lola Índigo on the song “Santería”. Currently, Danna Paola has made a musical style transformation, demonstrated her exceptional vocal talent and gained immense popularity and followers.

In 2023, a significant number of her concerts in Mexico were completely sold out. She also embarked on her inaugural US tour and had her first-ever performance at the prestigious Tomorrowland festival, where she was a guest alongside Steve Aoki. This period marked one of the most successful chapters in her career. She has now firmly established herself as one of today’s leading pop icons, sharing the stage with well-established artists and emerging talents such as Kenia Os. Not to mention that she’ll be one of the host for the 2023 Latin Grammy Awards.
