‘Chicken Run’ Returns After More Than 20 Years with ‘Dawn of the Nugget’

An unexpected yet eagerly anticipated return has been announced. After years of waiting, this year marks the comeback of the most famous animated hens in cinema. 

Once again guided by the adept hands of Aardman Studios, renowned for their BAFTA and Oscar nominations for equally beloved characters such as Wallace & Gromit and Shaun the Sheep, the upcoming film is under the direction of the accomplished Sam Fell, acclaimed for his movies, such as Flushed Away and ParaNorman.

Over twenty years ago, precisely in the year 2000, Chicken Run made its debut in movie theaters, marking a huge success in the film industry. Not only did it establish itself as a genre-defining masterpiece, but it also carved out a cherished spot in the hearts of countless youngsters worldwide.

Chicken Run managed to become the highest-grossing stop-motion animated film in history. However, now they’ve made their move to the small screen, thanks to Netflix, where we’ll witness Ginger and the hens facing a new challenge, even if it means risking their lives. 

Within this much-anticipated sequel, the stage is set for the revival of cherished characters: Ginger, Rocky, Molly, Fowler, Dr. Fry, Bunty, Fetcher, and the formidable Mrs. Tweedy. The ensemble of voice talents featured in the dubbing includes Zachary Levi, Bella Ramsey, Thandiwe Newton, David Bradley, Imelda Staunton, and Nick Mohammed. 

Movie Synopsis

After escaping from Tweedy’s farm, Ginger has finally found her ultimate haven: a peaceful island sanctuary where her entire feathered crew can relax, far from the chaos of the human world. When Ginger and Rocky’s efforts lead to the hatching of a chick named Molly, it seems Ginger has her happy ending in the bag.

However, on the mainland, the entire poultry community is facing a whole new kind of danger. Faced with this seriously daunting new threat, Ginger and her team are ready to act, even if it means putting their hard-won freedom at stake.

When & Where Is It Premiering?

Fortunately for fans and those feeling nostalgic, the wait won’t be too long. Its premiere is set for the end of the year, specifically on December 15, making it one of the quintessential holiday releases for a family viewing. Well, that’s for all those families subscribed to Netflix, of course.
