The «Flowers» performer has once again demonstrated her fearlessness when it comes to change by saying goodbye to her blonde hair, which had characterized her for several years, and returned to her natural tone: brunette.
On Sunday, September 24, to the surprise of her Instagram followers, Cyrus revealed her first brunette look in years. In the pictures, Cyrus flaunts sleek dark brown hair, which blends almost perfectly with the equally dark background. However, her deep red passion-colored bag adds a surprising pop of contrast.
This change, while it is undeniable that it moves away from its well-known appearance, may not have been entirely unexpected. As an entire generation grew up watching Hannah Montana, where teenager Miley Cyrus effortlessly transitioned between her iconic blonde and brunette personas. Who could forget those moments? Additionally, in recent months –and years–, she has been sporting a two-tone hairstyle, featuring both distinctive shades simultaneously, as shown in her music videos such as «Malibu.»

Being Brunette Vs. Dolly Parton
The truth is, Miley Cyrus had been wanting to return to her brunette roots for a while. The singer explained to Today that she had considered dyeing her hair dark for the New Year’s Eve party she hosted on NBC: Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party. An event where her godmother, the renowned country singer Dolly Parton, made an appearance.
Interestingly, it was Dolly herself who advised against it. Cyrus recalled, “I’ve never seen Dolly actually scared before. She acted like I told her the worst news you could imagine.” Upon hearing the idea of switching to brunette, Dolly told her, “You can’t do that. You are me,” for what Miley responded: “So I’m somehow some extension of Dolly Parton, where she looked like I had just given her the worst news you’ve ever heard. So I will be blond.” It was only recently in September that Miley decided to embrace her natural roots, reverting to a brunette look, that she absolutely rocks!
