More and more artists are differentiating their musical eras with renewed image changes. The latest one? Billie Eilish.
The American singer has had many phases during her musical career. This time, Billie, who had already transitioned from blonde to raven black hair, has chosen to add a touch of color.
The ‘Bad Guy’ performer has chosen a passionate red this time, a shade previously seen on other music stars such as Rosalía, Karol G, Shakira, Tini, or Rihanna. However, Eilish didn’t go for highlights or a complete hair dye; instead, she aimed for her roots.
With a single Instagram post, the artist has agitated all her followers, leaving them speculating about potential musical surprises. «New era» has become the most repeated comment among her fans.
As for herself, she captioned her Instagram post with, «remember me?» accompanying a selfie with her hair tied up with two space buns and revealing the middle part between her bangs.

Billie debuted her new look at the Lollapalooza festival in Chicago on the night of August 3rd. She appeared dressed in a black basketball outfit, with an oversized Chicago Bulls jersey with the number 23 on the back (the legendary jersey of Michael Jordan).

This marks Billie’s 11th hair transformation. Throughout her career, we’ve seen her with silver, neon green, aquamarine, brunette, blue hair, just to mention some… One thing we can be certain of is that she looks spectacular in every one of them.
In October 2015, Billie Eilish recorded the single ‘Ocean Eyes,’ and it went viral on Spotify in 2016. By the end of that year, Interscope Records officially released it, providing significant visibility to Billie, who was just 15 years old at the time.
Despite her young age, she already projected a tough girl image, which was undoubtedly amplified by her silver hair.
Although her look remained quite consistent during the early stages of her career, in 2017, the Californian singer began experimenting with white and gray hair. At different times, she could be seen with darker or lighter shades, and her roots varied in visibility. However, throughout these changes, Eilish kept her medium-long hair.

While working on her album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, Eilish made the decision to gradually change the color of her hair. However, she stayed within the palette that had been her comfort zone during her early years in music. Slowly and steadily, she transitioned from white to dark gray.

But it didn’t end there. During this year, Eilish continued to experiment with her hairstyle, evolving from a uniform gray to a gradient with darker tips. Later, she ventured into various shades of blue, including both light and dark tones, and even incorporated black highlights into the mix.
In 2019, Billie Eilish switched to jet black hair. At the time, she was deeply engaged in the release of her first album and decided to move away from the fantasy colors. However, this decision didn’t last long. During the same year, Eilish got a haircut with an open bang and bleached the top part of her hair, adding a fluorescent green dye. This decision undoubtedly defined the image the world has of her.
Towards the end of that year, we had the opportunity to see her with a wonderfully natural hair look in the music video for the song ‘xanny,’ where she showed a shade of brown hair.

In 2020, the world paused due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and so did Billie’s hair transformations. Throughout the year, the artist kept her hairstyle relatively consistent, with only slight variations in the intensity of the fluorescent color or the hair’s coverage.
In 2021, with the release of her second album, Happier Than Ever, Eilish decided to make a dramatic change to her image. She left behind her iconic two-tone hair and embarked on a six-week journey of intense bleaching and care. The result was a striking platinum blonde, giving her a more angelic appearance.
Initially, Eilish maintained her familiar medium-long hair and the open bangs. Yet, as weeks passed, she embraced the trendy wolf haircut with slightly closed bangs, which gave her a more mature look.
But the changes didn’t stop there. Then, the singer surprised her fans by sharing an image on social media, revealing that her blonde era had come to an end. She had returned to her roots, quite literally, showing a very natural shade of brown while keeping her signature bangs intact.

During these years, Billie has stayed with a dark hair until now, debuting with black hair and red roots.
