Brian Johnson, better known online as the “Liver King,” was arrested in Austin, Texas, on June 24, 2025, and charged with making a terroristic threat, a Class B misdemeanor under Texas law.

The arrest followed a series of bizarre and confrontational videos posted to Johnson’s Instagram account, in which he appeared to challenge podcaster Joe Rogan to a physical fight. In one video, Johnson—shirtless and holding what appeared to be gold-plated firearms—declared, “Joe Rogan, I’m calling you out… I’m picking a fight with you. Your rules, I’ll come to you, whenever you’re ready.” He added that he had no formal training in jiu-jitsu and acknowledged Rogan’s black belt status, stating, “You should dismantle me.”

The videos, which featured Johnson wearing a wolf-head hat and speaking in increasingly erratic tones, sparked widespread concern among fans and critics alike. In one clip, he claimed to be staying at the Four Seasons in Austin and appeared to be in a heightened emotional state, saying he hadn’t slept in 40 hours. Another video showed him being handcuffed and escorted into a police vehicle by Austin police officers.

While authorities have not officially confirmed whether the threats were directed at Rogan, the timing and tone of the videos have raised serious concerns. Johnson’s arrest was confirmed by Travis County Jail records, and he is currently being held without bond.

Johnson, who rose to fame promoting an “ancestral lifestyle” that includes eating raw organ meats, extreme physical training, and supplement use, has long been a polarizing figure. He previously faced backlash after leaked emails revealed he had spent over $11,000 a month on performance-enhancing drugs, contradicting his public claims of achieving his physique naturally. The scandal was widely discussed on Rogan’s podcast, which Johnson has publicly blamed for damaging his reputation and business ventures.

The arrest adds another dramatic chapter to Johnson’s already controversial public persona. His supplement empire, which includes several multimillion-dollar brands, has been the subject of both admiration and scrutiny. A recent Netflix documentary, Untold: The Liver King, explored his rise to fame and the personal costs of maintaining his primal image.

As of now, the Austin Police Department has not released further details about the case, and it remains unclear whether additional charges will follow. Johnson has not issued a public statement, and no legal representation has been confirmed.
