Why Heartstopper is Ending as a Movie and When It Will Premiere

The show premiered on Netflix in 2022 and quickly gained a massive following, becoming one of the platform’s most beloved series. Its popularity has grown so much that Netflix decided to take a special step to wrap up the story: they will make a film to conclude Nick and Charlie’s journey.

The movie will be a surprise for the loyal fans. It’s not that the author changed the plot, but she will be adapting the sixth volume of the series, which has yet to be published.

As for the creative team, Joe Locke and Kit Connor, the lead actors of the series, will also serve as producers. This is a fitting way to close the circle, as Heartstopper has been the project that helped them rise in the industry. Locke is now part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and Connor continues to expand his filmography, working with directors like Alex Garland, among others.

When is the Heartstopper Movie Coming Out?

Netflix has not only announced the Heartstopper movie but also shared an approximate timeline. However, this date is for the start of filming, not the release. Filming is set to begin in the summer of 2025, which means the movie could be released sometime in 2026.

The previous seasons didn’t follow a fixed release pattern. The first season came out in April, the second in August, and the third in October.
