Benito is at the peak of his artistic career. The singer is a clear example of how someone can completely redirect their musical path—and do so with great success. His latest album is an ode to his homeland, Puerto Rico. Through the island’s popular music and folklore, Bad Bunny delivers what many already consider his best work to date.

But he hasn’t stopped there: to crown this ambitious project, he’s accompanied it with both a tour and a residency. Since July 11, Benito has been at El Choli in San Juan, Puerto Rico, with a concert series titled No Me Quiero Ir de Aquí. In total, he will perform 30 shows.

The artist has fully devoted himself to this new project—sharing Puerto Rican music with the world, highlighting his people and fellow local artists on the mainstream stage, and even boosting Puerto Rico’s economy. His commitment has been so intense that, this time, he literally left his knee on the stage. At his most recent concert, the singer had the bad luck of misstepping during a dance routine, which resulted in an injury.

The footage spread quickly across social media, although the artist has not released any statement regarding the seriousness of the incident.

Criticism from Fans

In the meantime, the audience has made its opinion known, and the performer has received some criticism. Among the comments, many pointed out the simplicity of the dance move that caused the injury—especially when compared with the much more complex choreography that female performers often execute during their shows.

These critiques have reignited the ongoing debate about how male performers are sometimes held to lower standards onstage, while women are expected to meet far higher physical and choreographic demands. It’s not a new conversation, but it still surprised some fans, who were more concerned about the singer’s health than the backlash.

We wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him back on stage soon.
