Nicole Kidman (58) and country singer Keith Urban (57) have officially ended their relationship after two decades together, shattering the image of one of Hollywood’s most stable and lasting marriages. Reports suggest the couple has been living in separate homes since this past summer.

The news was first reported by entertainment outlet TMZ, which revealed that the pair had been going through a rough patch for several months. BBC later confirmed the split through sources close to the couple. According to those reports, the marriage had been facing certain “ups and downs,” though insiders claim that Kidman herself is reluctant about the divorce.

The last time Kidman and Urban were seen together in public was earlier this summer at the FIFA Club World Cup in Nashville, Tennessee, where they attended a match side by side.

The two married in Sydney, Australia, in 2006 and share two daughters: Sunday Rose Kidman-Urban and Faith Margaret Kidman-Urban. Throughout their 20 years together, they were often regarded as the picture of a solid partnership in an industry as unpredictable as Hollywood.

Kidman also has two older children, Bella and Connor Cruise, whom she adopted with former husband Tom Cruise.

Biggest Hurdle in Their Marriage

In past interviews, Kidman has been candid about the challenges in their relationship, stressing that their marriage was never perfect. Speaking to E! News, she explained that they, like everyone else, had to work through difficult moments.

One of their most trying times came just months after their wedding, when Urban entered rehab for four months to address his struggles with drug and alcohol addiction.

Despite the setback, the couple overcame that chapter and went on to strengthen their bond. Urban himself reflected on that experience in a 2010 appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show, saying: “Looking back, I realize how much Nic has taught me, how much she’s given me, and how she opened my eyes in so many ways.”
