It was recently revealed that Senegalese-American singer, producer, and entrepreneur Akon was arrested on November 7, 2025.
The 52-year-old artist, who rose to global fame in the 2000s with hits like Smack That and Lonely, was detained after police located his Tesla Cybertruck at a tint shop.
But what were the cause and charges against him? First, police had an active arrest warrant related to a previous offense, as the singer had been driving with a suspended license since January 2023.

Later, on September 10, Akon was again involved in an incident when he was found with no valid insurance and an illegal vape inside the same vehicle. For that reason, he was arrested this November and taken to the DeKalb County Jail, though he was released a few hours later. No weapons or contraband were found during his detention.
Throughout his life, Akon has faced several legal issues. In 1998, he was arrested on car theft charges that were later dropped; and in 2008, he pleaded guilty to second-degree harassment after throwing a teenager off stage during a concert in New York, receiving a fine and community service.
