The Eurovision 2025 Grand Final gave us one of the most magical nights of the year—filled with emotion, tension, and of course, plenty of music. And now we know which country will follow in Nemo’s footsteps: Austria has been crowned the winner of the 69th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, thanks to JJ and his song ‘Wasted Love’. The track explores the pain of unrequited love and the emotional emptiness that follows.

Austria soared to the top thanks to the public televote, which awarded the country 170 points, bringing its total to 436 points. Who Is JJ?

Although born in Vienna, JJ spent 15 years living in Dubai before returning to Austria. His father is Austrian and his mother is Filipino. His passion for opera was sparked after watching Mozart’s The Magic Flute at the Vienna State Opera—a production he now performs in, playing the role of the First Boy.

In 2020, JJ auditioned for The Voice UK, where Will.i.am turned his chair for him. He’s currently studying at the Opera School of the Vienna State Opera, part of the Private University of Music and Art (MUK) in Vienna.

For JJ and his entire team, winning Eurovision marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter. “It’s been months of hard work—from writing the song back in August 2024 to bringing it to life on stage. It’s been an incredible journey, and my heart is full. Right now, all I want to do is say thank you—to everyone who believed in me when Eurovision was still just a dream,” the artist shared.

How Much Did JJ Earn for Winning Eurovision 2025?

JJ, Austria’s representative and winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 2025, did not receive a direct cash prize for his win. Unlike other international competitions, Eurovision does not award a monetary amount to the artist who finishes in first place. Instead, the winner receives the iconic glass microphone trophy, which symbolizes the prestige and cultural impact of the contest.

That said, JJ’s victory will likely bring significant financial benefits. Eurovision offers massive international exposure—millions of viewers across Europe and around the world tune in, instantly putting the winner in the global spotlight. This kind of visibility often leads to a major boost in streams and plays across digital platforms, generating income through streaming revenue and royalties.
