Controversy has finally caught up with Rodolfo ‘Fofo’ Márquez, the Mexican influencer known for showcasing his lavish lifestyle on social media. On Wednesday, January 30, a judge from the Trial Court of the Tlalnepantla Judicial District in Mexico City sentenced him to 17 years and six months in prison for attempted femicide.
The case dates back to February 2024, when Márquez was involved in a violent altercation in a parking lot in the State of Mexico. According to the State Attorney General’s Office, the influencer attacked a 52-year-old woman, Edith N., after she accidentally hit his car’s side mirror. The brutal assault knocked her to the ground, putting her at serious risk of being run over. The attack was recorded and went viral, ultimately leading to his arrest in April 2024.

Along with the prison sentence, Márquez was ordered to pay a fine of 67,313 pesos (about $3,300 USD) and 277,400 pesos (around $13,500 USD) in moral and material damages. Additionally, he must undergo gender-focused psychological treatment for two years.
Rodolfo ‘Fofo’ Márquez is a social media influencer, born on July 15, 1997. He became well-known for flaunting his luxurious lifestyle on TikTok, where he shared videos featuring high-end cars, exclusive events, and lavish experiences. His flashy content quickly gained traction, earning him over 1.3 million followers.

Márquez is the son of businessman Rodolfo Márquez Flores, who was linked to TotalEnergies and had investments in Mexico’s footwear industry.

Before the parking lot incident that led to his arrest, ‘Fofo’ had already made headlines for past scandals. In July 2022, he blocked a bridge in Mexico, to organize car races with fellow influencers, sparking heavy criticism on social media.
