One of the most important music events in the world is fast approaching. And who would’ve thought it’s tied to sports? Specifically, American football. That’s right! We’re talking about the Super Bowl, the most-watched sporting event globally each year. However, the reality is that many people only tune in for the halftime show. Over time, performing at the halftime show has become an even greater accomplishment for an artist than winning a Grammy or an MTV award.
The 2025 Super Bowl will take place on February 9, 2025, at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, LA.

The grand finale will take place in New Orleans on February 9. Early speculations about the Super Bowl LIX headliner included names like Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, Bad Bunny, and Harry Styles. However, the final choice was Kendrick Lamar. Fans might remember his appearance as a guest in Dr. Dre’s 2022 Super Bowl performance, but this time, Lamar is set to deliver a show entirely composed of his own repertoire.
His track Not Like Us has been one of the biggest hits of 2024, fueled by a public feud with Drake. The success of the track, including its massive sales and streaming numbers, has solidified Lamar’s position as the clear winner in their rivalry.
The song reached #1 on the Billboard chart for two non-consecutive weeks and amassed 765 million streams in the U.S. alone. In November, Lamar surprised fans with an unexpected album titled GNX, featuring multiple subtle digs at Rihanna’s ex. “Rap continues to be the most impactful genre to date,” Lamar asserted during a press conference.
Despite taking center stage, Kendrick Lamar won’t be performing alone.
Singer and songwriter SZA will join Lamar in the halftime show for Super Bowl LIX. The announcement was made via social media, accompanied by a promotional video. Production teams Roc Nation and Jesse Collins have teamed up to bring these two powerhouse artists together, who also happen to be close friends.

In the video, Lamar is seen talking on the phone while walking across the turf at the Caesars Superdome. “You know this field is way bigger than people think, so that’s something to consider,” Lamar says over the phone, hinting at an invited artist. The clip concludes with SZA surprising him by dumping a bucket of blue water on him, confirming her role as the guest star.
This news has thrilled countless fans who adore the duo. Speculation is already rife about which songs will make it into their setlist, given their numerous collaborations. Possibilities range from recent tracks like 30 for 30 and Luther to iconic hits like Doves In The Wind and All The Stars—the official soundtrack of the first Black Panther film.
The February 9 performance will mark the start of a joint stadium tour scheduled to kick off in April. Fans are also eagerly hoping for a potential collaborative album, which would undoubtedly be a major hit.
