Celebrity hairstylist Jesús Guerrero, known for his work with Kylie Jenner, Katy Perry, and Jennifer Lopez, died at age 34 from a serious case of pneumonia and fungal infection, TMZ reports. Guerrero passed away on February 22, 2025, just one day after being admitted to a Los Angeles hospital for feeling unwell.
According to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner, Guerrero died from a fungal disease caused by inhaling spores from Cryptococcus, a fungus commonly found in the environment. This infection, called cryptococcosis, can impact various parts of the body but is especially dangerous when it affects the lungs or brain. In Guerrero’s case, the infection led to severe pneumonia. His cause of death has been ruled natural.

Guerrero had reportedly been feeling sick for months prior to his passing. Despite ongoing symptoms like chills and rapid weight loss, he continued to travel for work, taking jobs in Ireland, England, and the United Arab Emirates. When he returned to Los Angeles, his condition worsened rapidly.
His death was described by his family as “sudden and unexpected.” After the news broke, tributes poured in from celebrities and colleagues across the beauty industry. Kylie Jenner, who had worked closely with Guerrero for nearly a decade, covered the cost of returning his body to Houston, Texas, and paid for his funeral expenses.
Guerrero’s passing is a tragic reminder of how dangerous fungal infections can be when left untreated, particularly in individuals whose immune systems may be compromised. He is remembered not only for his talent and creativity but for the warmth and positivity he brought to everyone he worked with.
Rest in peace, Jesús.
