Latin singer DELAROSA —not to be confused with De La Rose— has tragically passed away at just 22 years old after a shooting early Saturday, November 22, in Los Angeles. According to LAPD reports, officers responded to calls of gunfire around 1:25 a.m. near Bryant Street, east of Tampa Avenue, in the Northridge area.

Witnesses told police that two male suspects approached a parked car on Bryant Street and opened fire several times. DELAROSA was struck and later taken to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead due to her injuries.

Authorities are investigating the case as a possible ambush, although the motive remains unclear. Police have not confirmed whether the attack was targeted toward the singer, her companions, or simply connected to local gang activity. At this stage, officials have only stated that the incident appears to have gang-related characteristics, but nothing has been officially confirmed.

TMZ reports that they obtained audio from the 911 call, where the victim was described as a young Hispanic woman with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. A family member of DeLaRosa, also told the outlet that she was the only person hit in the shooting.

“We were told María was sitting in the passenger seat when the two shooters fired from the driver’s side. The other two people in the vehicle —a man and a woman— were not injured,” the source said.
