It looks like we’re nearing the end of the film awards season, which will culminate next Sunday with the Oscars. Before that, we’ve seen the winners of the 2025 Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG Awards), held at the Shrine Auditorium and Exposition Hall in Los Angeles.
Netflix streamed the ceremony, hosted by Kristen Bell. In television, the big winner of the night was Shōgun, which had already dominated the Emmys. It started with five nominations and walked away with four awards—one for Hiroyuki Sanada, one for Anna Sawai, another for Best Ensemble in a Drama Series, and one for Best Stunt Team.
Zoe Saldaña, winner of the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role award for «Emilia Pérez,» poses in the press room during the 31st Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards at Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall on February 23, 2025 in Los Angeles, California. Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic
Only Murders in the Building also had a successful night, winning Best Comedy Ensemble, while Martin Short took home Best Supporting Actor—though he was unable to attend due to COVID.
When it came to films, the awards were fairly spread out. Timothée Chalamet and Demi Moore won Best Actor and Best Actress for their roles in the Bob Dylan biopic and The Substance, respectively. Conclave took home the award for Best Ensemble Cast in a Motion Picture. Meanwhile, Emilia Pérez once again missed out on major wins, though Zoe Saldaña secured Best Supporting Actress.
