Shakira’s Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran Tour has officially taken over North America, and fans had May 13 marked on their calendars for months — not out of superstition, but because it was the kickoff of the tour’s U.S. and Canada leg. The show launched in Charlotte, North Carolina, and Shakira is scheduled to perform over 20 stadium dates across the continent through late June.
The opening night was held at Bank of America Stadium, and the crowd was historic: 50,000 people packed the venue, making it the largest audience for a Latin artist in the city’s history. In fact, Shakira broke Beyoncé’s attendance record of 43,000, earning her the title of most-attended concert in the U.S. so far this year.
As promised, Shakira delivered an iconic show — including a surprise appearance from social media star Lele Pons, who is heavily pregnant and still walked onstage from the backstage area to join Shakira in a tribute to her song “She Wolf.” Pons proudly wore a shirt with Shakira’s face, making it clear just how much she idolizes her.
But the moment everyone was waiting for came when Alejandro Sanz appeared on stage. The pair hadn’t performed “La Tortura” together in 20 years, but when they did, it was pure magic. Dressed in black and wearing sunglasses, Sanz joined Shakira — who introduced him as a “cosmic gift” and a dear friend — and the two reignited their undeniable onstage chemistry.

“Some people come into your life and change it forever. I call them cosmic gifts. I call them dear friends. And I call them by name: Ladies and gentlemen, Alejandro Sanz,” Shakira told the crowd.
It’s been 20 years since “La Tortura” was released, but when these two share the stage, the energy is still electric.
The throwbacks didn’t stop there. Shakira also brought out Wyclef Jean to celebrate another huge anniversary: “Hips Don’t Lie” is also 20 years old this year. Fans had already seen them reunite recently on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and the Charlotte concert gave them another taste of that iconic duo.
Wyclef came out shouting, “1, 2, 3, 4…” and hit the crowd with that classic “Shakira, Shakira,” instantly throwing the stadium into dance mode. Wearing a printed shirt and signature hat, he added a perfect mix of nostalgia and energy to an already unforgettable night.

Shakira also made some tweaks to her setlist. One of the most welcomed additions was “Underneath Your Clothes,” a beloved ballad fans were thrilled to hear live. On the flip side, she dropped “Poem to a Horse,” which disappointed a few longtime followers.
Still, one thing was made crystal clear: Shakira is the most powerful Latin artist in the world right now. Wherever she goes, tens of thousands follow — and she continues to hit milestones many artists can only dream of.
Next stops? More U.S. cities, and more guest stars. Pitbull and Rauw Alejandro are among those expected to join her on stage soon.
