Selena Gomez has broken her silence for the first time following the scandal surrounding Karla Sofía Gascón’s tweets. Gascón, her co-star in the Oscar-nominated film Emilia Pérez, has come under scrutiny after old posts resurfaced. The actress, who is the only lead from the film not nominated for an Academy Award, addressed the issue when asked about it at the Santa Barbara Film Festival.
«I’m really good,» Selena stated. «Some of the magic has disappeared, but I choose to continue to be proud of what I’ve done, and I’m just, I’m just grateful and live with no regrets.»
Karla Sofía Gascón was called out for having more than a dozen tweets on the platform X that were described as racist, Islamophobic, and misogynistic. One post allegedly targeted Selena Gomez herself, calling her a «poor rich rat» and a «wretch» two years before the film’s release. However, in an interview with CNN en Español, the Spanish actress claimed that the posts had been manipulated.
