When you talk about the pioneers of reggaeton, Zion (whose real name is Félix Ortiz Torres) is a name that inevitably comes up. Known as one half of the iconic Puerto Rican duo Zion & Lennox, he’s been shaping the sound of Latin urban music for more than two decades. Together, the duo helped define what reggaeton is today — that perfect mix of sensual rhythms, street energy, and emotional storytelling.
Zion & Lennox first broke onto the scene in the early 2000s, a period when reggaeton was exploding out of Puerto Rico and into the global mainstream. Their sound stood out for blending smooth vocals (Zion’s specialty) with Lennox’s deeper, rougher tone — a contrast that made them instantly recognizable.
Over the years, Zion has become one of the most respected voices in reggaeton. Not just for his music, but for his role in opening doors for new generations of artists. He’s collaborated with some of the biggest names in Latin music, from Daddy Yankee, Don Omar, and Wisin & Yandel, to newer icons like Bad Bunny, J Balvin, and Anuel AA.
What makes Zion particularly special is his versatility. While many reggaeton artists leaned heavily into party anthems, he often infused emotion and melody into his work, showing that reggaeton could also be romantic, nostalgic, or deeply reflective. Songs like ‘Pierdo la Cabeza’ and ‘Otra Vez’ proved that his voice could carry both heartbreak and celebration.
Zion isn’t just a name in reggaeton — he’s part of its foundation, and one of the reasons the genre is where it is today.
