Paquita la del Barrio still has more to say. Sadly, on February 17, the death of the Mexican icon was announced. However, her team has now revealed that new musical surprises from Paquita are still on the way. That’s right—nothing, not even death, could stop her.
Francisco Torres, the singer’s former representative, shared the news about unreleased songs made just before her passing. According to him, these songs are the truest reflection of the artist’s ‘most intimate feelings,’ the same Paquita known for her legendary ‘Rata de dos patas’.
“She recorded these songs two or three months before this happened. There are some really powerful tracks, one of them is very raw—I won’t give too much away, but you’ll hear it soon. I can honestly say these songs capture Paquita’s feelings before she passed,” Torres revealed.
Beyond ‘Rata de dos patas’, Paquita is the author of other beloved songs like ‘Tres veces te engañé’ and ‘Cheque en blanco’. She also appeared in several popular television melodramas, including María Mercedes, Velo de novia, Amor de barrio, and Rica, famosa, latina.
Blending her two passions, in 2017 she launched her own biographical series. In it, she shared that the reason she began writing songs was to free herself from the pain caused by men throughout her life.
On February 17, her team wrote on her official Instagram account: “With deep sorrow and sadness, we confirm the passing of our beloved ‘Paquita la del barrio,’ in her home in Veracruz. She was a unique and irreplaceable artist, and she will leave an unforgettable mark on the hearts of all who knew her and enjoyed her music.”
“In this time of great sorrow, we respectfully ask all media and the public to give us space and understanding, allowing her family to grieve in privacy and peace. Rest in peace, your music and legacy will live forever in our hearts,” the statement concluded.
