Puerto Rican breakout star Omar Courtz (aka Ousi) has been named a finalist at the 2025 Billboard Latin Music Awards in the category of Top Latin Rhythm Album of the Year for his debut studio album Primera Musa. It’s the first time Courtz has been recognized at the awards, marking a major milestone for a debut that’s made waves since its release in September 2024.
The album was released through Mr. 305 Records/Rimas Entertainment LLC. Primera Musa features 17 tracks and collaborations with artists like Rauw Alejandro, Anuel AA, Dei V, and Bryant Myers. The project quickly gave Courtz his first Top 10 entry on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart.
Billboard stated, “The album is a personal odyssey that weaves his past, his family’s influence, and an homage to the pivotal women in his life. Its sonic diversity spans trap, reggaetón, R&B, Jersey club and house — each track showcasing Omar’s skill in melding diverse styles to forge a colorful listen.”

Omar Courtz shared his creative vision with Apple Music: “Right now in Puerto Rico, younger artists have stepped away from reggaetón. I want to reignite the flame of Puerto Rican reggaetón, which has lost ground over the past couple of years.” That same energy is lighting up audiences on his Primera Musa World Tour, which is currently running through Latin America before heading to Spain later this year.
The 2025 Billboard Latin Music Awards will be held on October 23 at the James L. Knight Center in Miami, broadcast live on Telemundo. Primera Musa is nominated among the year’s top Latin rhythm releases.
