Summer is concert season — one of the busiest times of year for musicians. Oasis is currently living their dream, performing for fans who have waited over 15 years to see the Gallagher brothers share a stage again. That alone has generated a lot of buzz, with some calling it a “miracle” as even fans in wheelchairs have been seen standing up during their shows.

Tickets have sold out quickly, and the hype is real. This tour is taking fans back to pre-2009 days when the Gallaghers made headlines for their constant feuds but still performed together. The tour has kept generating headlines — it even survived a foiled attack attempt.

Now, a new generation of the family has joined the tour in various roles, and things seemed to be going well — until this past weekend, when the band issued a statement following a tragic incident on Saturday during the fourth of seven shows scheduled at Wembley Stadium in London.

Death of an Oasis Fan

“We are shocked and saddened to learn of the tragic death of a fan at last night’s show. Oasis sends their deepest condolences to the family and friends of the individual,” the band told the BBC after news broke that a man in his 40s died after reportedly falling from an upper tier at the concert.

A statement from the Metropolitan Police said, “A man, approximately 40 years old, was found with injuries consistent with a fall. Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene,” according to reports from outlets like Sky News.

“The stadium was packed, and it’s likely that several people either witnessed the incident or recorded it on their phones, knowingly or unknowingly,” the police added, requesting help from the public to clarify the circumstances.

“Wembley Stadium medical staff, London Ambulance Service, and police attended to a concert-goer with injuries consistent with a fall,” a Wembley spokesperson said. “Our thoughts are with the family, who have been informed and are receiving support from specially trained police officers.”

Record Beer Sales Amid Investigation

No further details about the incident have been released as investigations continue. Meanwhile, the concerts have reportedly set a new record for beer sales. Catering company Delaware North said the amount of alcohol sold at Oasis shows is more than double the number of pints sold during Coldplay’s concerts at the same venue in 2023.

According to the Standard, about 250,000 beers are sold per night at these shows compared to 40,000 per Taylor Swift concert in London. It’s unclear if alcohol played any role in the alleged fall.

Despite the tragedy, Wembley’s management confirmed that Sunday’s concert would proceed as planned — and it did. Oasis will return to London for two more shows on September 27 and 28.
