The 2025 Latin Grammy Awards are set for November 13, 2025, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. As always, the big anticipation is around the full list of nominees, and this year the spotlight is on Bad Bunny. With his album Debí tirar más fotos, the Puerto Rican superstar has landed an impressive twelve nominations — a record that feels almost unreal.
Karol G, one of Colombia’s biggest stars, is also making her mark once again. Thanks to the massive success of her hit ‘Si antes te había conocido’ (If I Had Met You Before) — which has already surpassed 1 billion views on YouTube — she’s competing in three major categories: Song of the Year, Record of the Year, and Tropical Song.
Still, one of the biggest surprises is the complete absence of her latest studio album, Tropicoqueta, from the nominations. The omission has raised eyebrows, especially since the academy has consistently celebrated Karol’s work. In 2023, Mañana será bonito earned Album of the Year, and in 2024, Bichota Season won Best Urban Album. So the question remains: what happened with Tropicoqueta?
It all comes down to timing. The Latin Grammys’ submission window ran from June 1, 2024, to May 30, 2025. Since Tropicoqueta was released on June 20, 2025, it missed the deadline. That means it could still be considered for the 2026 edition. In short, any albums released after June 1, 2025, weren’t eligible for this year’s competition.
This year’s gala will bring together the biggest stars and rising voices. The nominations, announced on September 17, put Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny in the lead with 12 nods, including Album of the Year for DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS and double recognition in both Record and Song of the Year for ‘BAILE INoLVIDABLE’ and ‘DTmF’.
Right behind him are Mexican producer Edgar Barrera and Argentine duo Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso, with 10 nominations each.
