Michael Jackson and BTS, The Collaboration No One Expected Could Be Happening

K-pop fans are buzzing over a rumor that's lighting up social media

More than 15 years after his death, Michael Jackson is still making waves in the music world. The latest? Rumors are swirling about a new posthumous album—and BTS might be involved.

It all started when The Irish Sun published an interview with Paddy Dunning, owner of Grouse Lodge Studios in Ireland. That’s where Jackson reportedly recorded unreleased material back in 2006. According to Dunning, those sessions are now being revisited with the help of several artists. While BTS wasn’t mentioned by name, fans quickly began speculating that the global K-pop sensation is part of the project—and honestly, the idea makes a lot of sense.

An Album With Legacy—and Serious Groove

During his time in Ireland, Michael Jackson stayed in a converted stable in Westmeath County with his children, Prince, Paris, and Blanket. There, he worked with producers like Rodney Jerkins and Nephew on a body of work many insiders believed had the potential to become his next Thriller. The project was shelved after Jackson’s untimely death in 2009—until now.

The new album is rumored to include around 10 previously unreleased tracks, written specifically for Jackson. In addition, a companion documentary is reportedly in the works, featuring behind-the-scenes footage, stories, and moments from those sessions.

BTS and MJ: A Longstanding Admiration

While it may sound like a wild crossover, BTS’s love for Michael Jackson is well documented. In 2022, they appeared in Thriller 40, a documentary honoring the legacy of Jackson’s most iconic album. And in their 2020 hit Dynamite, the group paid clear tribute to his signature style.

Though nothing has been confirmed, the mere idea of BTS joining a posthumous Michael Jackson project has fans—especially ARMY—going into overdrive. Social media is packed with speculation and excitement over what could be one of the most unexpected (and iconic) collabs in pop history.

When Could We Hear It?

There’s no official release date yet, but more information about both the album and the documentary is expected in the coming months. One thing’s for sure: a collaboration between BTS and Michael Jackson would be a massive cultural moment, bridging generations of global pop superstars.
