Katy Perry has officially made history. The pop singer was part of the crew on Blue Origin’s NS-31 mission — an all-women team that traveled to space on a suborbital flight this Monday, April 14. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that made her one of the first music artists in the world to leave Earth.

«I’ve been dreaming of going to space for 15 years, and tomorrow that dream comes true. I’m incredibly honored to be standing beside five other amazing and inspiring women as we become the first all-female space crew in history,» the singer said about the mission.

After a high-stakes mission filled with tense and critical moments — but ultimately a successful one — Katy Perry shared a heartfelt message as soon as she landed. That message was for her daughter, Daisy. The moment she stepped out of the space capsule, with Jeff Bezos opening the hatch, Katy held up a daisy flower in her hand, kissed it, and then kissed the ground. Once again, the pop icon showed her love for her little girl, whom she shares with actor Orlando Bloom, on one of the most meaningful days of her life.

Through the video provided by Blue Origin on several YouTube channels, viewers can watch the six-woman crew board the rocket and head to space. In addition to Katy Perry, the crew included:

  • Katy Perry, global pop superstar
  • Lauren Sánchez, journalist, entrepreneur, and Jeff Bezos’ fiancée
  • Gayle King, journalist and television host
  • Amanda Nguyen, civil rights activist
  • Aisha Bowe, NASA aerospace engineer
  • Kerianne Flynn, film producer

This mission is a powerful way to showcase the work NASA is doing and the scientific advancements currently underway.

The crew launched from Corn Ranch in West Texas. From the moment the livestream began, thousands of people tuned in to watch Katy Perry and her fellow astronauts lift off into space.
