A Documentary That Looks Back on Her Journey

While Karol G shows what it was like to headline a global stadium tour, as we’ve seen in the trailer, the film also dives into how she became one of the world’s biggest stars.

The singer will reflect on her childhood and early beginnings before becoming the artist we know today. In fact, the trailer includes some of her own words: “Since I was little, people used to tell me, ‘Karol, this dream isn’t for you.’ Being a woman was a huge barrier in advancing my career,” she recalls about her early days in reggaetón.

The trailer also shows Karol’s perfectionism before going on stage. We see her in tears, heartbroken over not making it in time for the tour—a powerful glimpse into the sacrifice and hard work behind something as massive as the Mañana Será Bonito Tour.

Synopsis of Mañana Fue Muy Bonito

The documentary is directed by Cristina Costantini, who followed Karol throughout the tour, speaking with her at length and getting emotional over her story.

In an interview with Tudum, the director shared: «In my first conversation with Karol, she expressed a deep desire to create a documentary that reflects what life on tour is really like. She didn’t want to sugarcoat it or just show the glamorous parts. She wanted to show the difficult moments and the struggle it took to get to where she is now. That gave me so much hope that we could truly align on this vision. For a documentary filmmaker, having someone be that vulnerable in front of the camera is incredibly rare—and a gift.»

In the director’s own words, the film isn’t just about a global star—it’s about a Latina carving out her space in the world: “This is a movie for the die-hard fans who’ve been with her since day one, and also for new fans just discovering her. But at its core, it’s a film for Latinas. As Latinas, so many of us are constantly told ‘no’—whether directly or subtly. So many of us know what it feels like to be underestimated, overlooked, or undervalued. We’ve all been told our dreams are too big. That we’re not enough. Like Karol says, we’ve been told: ‘This dream isn’t meant for me.’”

Mañana Fue Muy Bonito premieres on Netflix on May 8.
