Josie Totah and Karan Brar first met as kids on the Disney Channel series Jessie when they were just 11 and 12 years old. Karan played Ravi Ross, one of the main characters in the sitcom about a nanny moving to New York to care for the children of a Hollywood couple. Josie had a recurring role as Stuart Wooten, another memorable character on the show.

Now, a decade after the series ended, Karan and Josie, now 25 and 24 years old, are back in the spotlight. Josie recently shared a video that got everyone talking—a clip of her and Karan sharing a passionate kiss. In the video, Karan wraps his arm around Josie’s waist, and she leans in to kiss him on the lips. The post immediately sparked rumors that the two might be dating.

Fans quickly took to social media, speculating that their childhood friendship had grown into a romantic relationship. Over the years, they’ve shared moments together on social media, and those photos and videos only added to the excitement and curiosity about their connection.

The video of the kiss was only up for a few hours on Josie’s social media, but it was enough to get her and Karan trending on X (formerly Twitter), along with the phrase ‘they’re dating.’ The unexpected reaction clearly caught Josie off guard, and she quickly deleted the video.

A Joke That Got Out of Hand

Not long after taking down the video, Josie posted a new one to set the record straight. Laughing, she explained, ‘It was a joke.’ The kiss, which many thought confirmed a new relationship, was nothing more than a playful prank between two close friends. To make things even clearer, Josie added a caption: “We are just two platonic best friends who danced too close to the sun.”

While the prank may have gone a bit too far, it’s obvious that the kiss wasn’t romantic. What’s even more heartwarming is seeing how the friendship Josie and Karan started while filming Jessie has grown into a strong and lifelong connection.
