‘On The Floor’ and ‘Let’s Get Loud’ are iconic hits featured in the diva’s repertoire
In recent days, we’ve seen all kinds of headlines about Jennifer Lopez and her arrival in Pontevedra. We learned that she stayed at a luxurious hotel in La Toja where she showed off a “made in Spain” bikini by the brand Comelle, and that she enjoyed local cuisine at Pepe Viera’s two-Michelin-star restaurant. But the most important moment was yet to come: the start of her tour in Spain, which kicked off in the Galician city.
Parque de Tafisa was packed with thousands of fans eager to experience the music and choreography of the Bronx diva, who filled her concert with early 2000s nostalgia featuring hits like Let’s Get Loud, On the Floor, Get Right, and Waiting for Tonight. It had been six years since the singer last toured, after canceling her planned tour last year due to personal reasons — and it seemed there was a real appetite for her return.
JLo took the stage surrounded by dancers, wearing a tight sequin jumpsuit, high boots, and a fringed jacket that made it clear age is just a number. And that was just one of many outfits she wore during the nearly two-hour concert. Total diva.
That said, she started by greeting Pontevedra — not Vigo as she had said on social media, much to the disappointment of many who pointed out that she seemed a bit confused about her location. But eventually, she got it right. “I’m so grateful to be back out here, it’s been a long time since we’ve been together like this, but I’m really happy to start in Spain,” she added.
Highlight Moments
Among the most notable moments of the concert was the debut of Wreckage of You, a song she presented at a party with 30 fans just last week, saying she had co-written and recorded it barely two weeks earlier. The most remarkable part? Its references to her divorce from Ben Affleck. “I’m stronger after your destruction,” the lyrics say. It wasn’t the only new song she performed live. Other new tracks included Regular, Free, Save Me Tonight, and Birthday.
Another moment fans enthusiastically celebrated was her performance of Ain’t It Funny (Original), which hadn’t been heard live in a couple of decades. Possibly the moment with the most Spanish flavor, complete with a Manila shawl and matador-style jackets for the dancers.
Continuing with this more Latin side, we also heard her sing a classic in Spanish: Gracias a la vida by Violeta Parra. She also performed songs like Qué Hiciste and Selena’s Si una vez.
