Kata Hay on The Voice - Season 10

Former The Voice Contestant Kata Hay Arrested on Homicide Charges

In 2022, she was also arrested and later convicted of a sexual offense involving a minor

Kata Huddleston, publicly known as Kata Hay after her appearance on The Voice in 2016, was arrested early Wednesday morning in Oklahoma following the issuance of an arrest warrant by authorities in Tennessee for an alleged case of vehicular homicide.

The arrest came after several days of searching, during which the Goodlettsville Police Department asked the public for help in locating her. Authorities shared images of the former contestant and warned that there were indications she had left the state. According to official information, Huddleston was believed to be traveling toward Oklahoma and not alone, but accompanied by a man, possibly in a vehicle towing a large trailer.

Public cooperation played a key role in the case. After receiving multiple tips and calls, a local sheriff’s deputy was able to locate and identify Huddleston in her home state. Once her identity and the active warrant were confirmed, she was taken into custody without incident.

The Goodlettsville Police Department publicly thanked the community for its assistance and confirmed that Huddleston will be extradited to Davidson County, where she is expected to appear in court as the legal process moves forward.

What Happened?

The investigation that led to Kata Hay’s arrest began with an incident that occurred on December 10. According to reports from legal and crime-focused outlets, the singer is facing a vehicular homicide charge, along with several additional offenses connected to the same event.

These charges include driving under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident that reportedly caused more than $1,500 in property damage, and a violation for having an open container of alcohol inside the vehicle. Together, these allegations form a serious and complex legal case that is now moving through the court system.

This is not Kata Hay’s first encounter with the justice system. In 2022, she was arrested and later convicted of a sexual offense involving a minor, which resulted in a six-month prison sentence. That prior conviction has resurfaced in public discussion following news of her current legal situation.

The Voice

Kata Hay previously gained public attention through her appearance on season 10 of The Voice. Her blind audition, in which she performed ‘Redneck Woman’ by Gretchen Wilson, caught the attention of three of the four coaches. One of the most talked-about moments came when she shared her admiration for Christina Aguilera, who ultimately chose her as part of her team.

Hay advanced through several rounds of the competition and reached the Top 20, but was eliminated at the start of the live shows. Today, her name is back in the headlines—not for her music, but for a legal case that is still unfolding.
