Freaky Friday is one of the most iconic movies from the 2000s, and it’s definitely remembered with a lot of love. It became a classic in its own right. However, it’s been 22 years since its release, when Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis made us laugh with their wild antics.
Now, to the excitement of fans, the story continues! Disney has just released the official trailer for the highly anticipated sequel, titled Freakier Friday. And yes, the family chaos is back… but with an unexpected twist.
In the original film, Anna (Lindsay Lohan) swaps bodies with her mother, Dr. Tess Coleman (Jamie Lee Curtis), and vice versa, after a complicated mother-daughter relationship. In this new story, both of them must understand and appreciate each other’s lives in order to return to their own bodies. This brings up a big question: will the plot be the same for this sequel?

In the new trailer, posted on Disney’s official channel, we see Anna and her mom, Tess, visiting a medium who reveals a surprising twist: the phenomenon they experienced years ago wasn’t an accident, but a supernatural event that could happen again at any time.
Naturally, they brush it off… until, the next day, the unthinkable happens: Anna doesn’t swap bodies with her mom, but with her own teenage daughter. And if that wasn’t enough, Tess ends up trapped in the body of her granddaughter’s friend. From this trailer, it’s clear that Freakier Friday will bring back the same comedic energy that made the first movie a classic, but with a fresh twist and new lessons about family and identity.
The return of Freaky Friday brings back the fan-favorite characters from the first movie, like Anna and her mother, Dr. Tess Coleman. But many fans are wondering if Jake (played by Chad Michael Murray), Anna’s love interest, will also make an appearance in the sequel. And after seeing the new trailer, we can confirm: yes, he’s back.
Let’s remember that Jake was one of the key characters in the original film, playing a major role in the mother-daughter conflict. In this new trailer, we get to see Jake, even in the final scene. While we don’t know exactly what role he’ll have, it’s clear he’ll return with his signature rocker look and motorcycle.
