The feud between Kendrick Lamar and Drake has reached its peak after Lamar performed his historic diss track Not Like Us during the most-watched global event: the Super Bowl Halftime Show.

Not Like Us has already become a hip-hop anthem and is now the most awarded rap song following its success at the 2025 Grammys. At both the award ceremony and the Super Bowl, the crowd loudly chanted the controversial line “a minor”—which essentially summarizes the track’s message: an accusation against Drake over alleged relationships with underage individuals, as well as criticisms of his actions in the industry, including claims of “lack of authenticity” and the use of AI.

Kendrick’s performance was widely praised, with many emphasizing that the “humiliation” of Drake had reached its peak. But how did the rapper respond?

Drake Responds to Kendrick Lamar After the Super Bowl

Despite Lamar’s viral performance and the rising success of Not Like Us, Drake has never made direct statements about it. However, he has subtly responded to the ongoing controversy.

After Not Like Us triumphed at the Grammys, Drake reappeared at the start of his tour in Australia wearing a sweatshirt full of holes, with smoke coming out of it. This was widely interpreted as a symbolic representation of being “shot multiple times” by Kendrick—with the industry’s backing—yet still surviving.

This symbolism carried over to his latest public appearance. While performing his hit track from Certified Lover Boy in Melbourne, Australia, Drake altered the lyrics of Knife Talk in what appeared to be a direct statement. Instead of the original line, “Beef is live, spoiler alert, this n**a dies”*, he rapped: “Beef is live, spoiler alert, I never died”. This seemed clearly a direct response to Kendrick.

Drake’s Lawsuit Against Kendrick Lamar Over ‘Not Like Us’

On January 15, 2025, Drake filed a defamation lawsuit against Universal Music Group (UMG), alleging that the label intentionally promoted and profited from a song containing false and harmful accusations against him.

The lawsuit also references an incident from May 2024, when armed individuals attacked Drake’s residence in Toronto, injuring a security guard. Drake claims this attack was a direct consequence of the allegations spread through Not Like Us.
