Doechii will receive the 2025 Woman of the Year award at the Billboard Women in Music event, set to take place on March 29 at the YouTube Theater in Hollywood Park, Inglewood, California. This award cements her status as one of the most influential figures in today’s music industry.
Doechii was previously recognized as Billboard’s Rising Star in 2023. Now, she joins Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande as the third artist to progress from Rising Star to Woman of the Year.
«With her innovative sound and bold creativity, Doechii is redefining what it means to be a trailblazer in the music industry,» said Hannah Karp, Billboard’s editorial director.
The Woman of the Year award is one of Billboard’s most prestigious honors, previously given to artists such as Karol G, SZA, Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Eilish, Selena Gomez, Madonna, and Taylor Swift. Doechii also becomes the second female rapper to receive the honor, following Cardi B in 2020.
This recognition comes after a year of major achievements for the Tampa-born artist. In February, Doechii won the Grammy for Best Rap Album with Alligator Bites Never Heal, becoming the third female solo artist in history to earn this award.
Her performance at the Grammys, where she delivered powerful renditions of Denial Is a River and Catfish, was hailed by Billboard as the best of the night. Weeks later, she was also honored as Outstanding New Artist at the 2025 NAACP Image Awards.
The 2025 Billboard Women in Music event will also celebrate other influential artists, including:
