Mark Zuckerberg was one of the tech giants present at Donald Trump’s inauguration, and many people increasingly believe this group is aligning with right-wing ideologies that influence their social media platforms. Combined with recent events on TikTok in the United States, this has left many users suspicious.

In the past few hours, numerous Facebook and Instagram users have reported being automatically subscribed to the official accounts of President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance following their inauguration.

These users noticed posts from the @POTUS and @VP accounts in their feeds, including Trump’s post stating, «Promises made, promises kept,» and a photo of Vance swearing in Marco Rubio as Secretary of State.

Unexplained Account Follows

Some users claimed they had never followed these accounts, while others reported unfollowing them, only to find themselves mysteriously resubscribed.

«The accounts Facebook.com/POTUS and Facebook.com/WhiteHouse are managed by the White House and change when the occupant of the White House changes,» clarified Andy Stone, Meta’s Director of Communications.

However, users remained skeptical, pointing out that they received notifications not only for the administration’s official accounts but also for the personal accounts of Trump, Vance, and even Melania Trump.

Demi Lovato’s Criticism of Meta

Concerns about the digital landscape and increasing platform oversight have grown, and singer Demi Lovato has joined the outcry.

Lovato claimed she unfollowed JD Vance several times, only to find her account following him again.

«Damn shady business meta,» she wrote, sharing evidence of her experience.

Lovato also shared a heartfelt message after the inauguration:

«If you’re trans or nonbinary like me, know that I see you, I feel you, I’m with you. You are valid, you are loved, and you are not alone. No one can take away our identities, and no one can tell us who we are or are not. We’ll get through this. I love you.»

While it’s unclear if her frustration is directly tied to Donald Trump’s inauguration, the historic event has certainly stirred emotions for the artist.
