It’s no secret that Camila Cabello admires Rosalía. Ever since the Spanish artist burst onto the global scene, the pop superstar has followed her journey closely. In fact, Motomami’s work has inspired and influenced her latest project—C, XOXO, her newest studio album. Rosalía’s creative world is something Camila keeps top of mind. Still, a collaboration between the two hasn’t quite materialized.
LOS40 recently caught up with Camila Cabello, especially with her new world tour—Yours, C. Ever since her collaboration with Alejandro Sanz on Mi Persona Favorita, fans have been hoping she’ll team up with other artists from the Spanish music scene. So, when asked about which Spanish singers or bands are on her radar, it didn’t take long for Rosalía’s name to come up in the conversation.
Camila Cabello adores Rosalía and says she’d have no problem including a track with her in her discography. However, for the former Fifth Harmony member, friendship comes before the business side of music.
“I think she’s truly an artist who’s focused on the art. Every time I talk to her, she’s super sweet and very present,” Camila told LOS40. “I like working with people I think are good human beings—that matters too. Life’s too short for drama and to work with someone you don’t enjoy being around.”
That said, the pop star admitted that the two haven’t had any serious talks about collaborating: “No, not at all. I don’t like to force those things. The most important thing is connecting as people. If something happens, it happens; if not, that’s fine too—it’ll still be a great friendship.”
It doesn’t look like a Camila Cabello feat. Rosalía is happening anytime soon, but we love that the He Knows singer is prioritizing her friendship with Rosalía over chasing a potential hit—even if it could rack up huge Spotify numbers. Bravo, Camila!
