Bleachers Collapse During Quevedo Show in Mexico City

The singer shared a message on social media offering his support

Quevedo, the artist behind the hit ‘Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 52’ with Bizarrap, is currently on tour across Latin America. His first stop was a sold-out show at the Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City on Wednesday, April 23.

However, the night was overshadowed by an accident during the concert. Initial reports claimed that part of the bleachers had collapsed. The Mexico City Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC CDMX) later clarified that the incident involved two women, aged 18 and 24, and a 15-year-old teen, who were taken to the hospital for evaluation. Thankfully, none of them sustained serious injuries.

After learning about the incident, Quevedo shared a message on social media offering his support: “Good morning from CDMX. Last night, part of a bleacher gave way during the show and three people required medical attention. We’ve since learned they were released without serious injuries. I just want to send them my support and wish them a smooth and speedy recovery.”

It was later confirmed that the incident wasn’t caused by a full structural collapse, but rather by a board from a temporary bleacher that broke. Quevedo updated his message, adding: “I’ve been told it wasn’t a full collapse—just a board from a temporary structure that broke and triggered the situation. I wanted to clarify the details and make sure everything is understood correctly.”

Another Accident in Less Than a Month

Unfortunately, this incident at one of Mexico City’s most important venues comes shortly after a fatal accident at the ‘AXE Ceremonia’ festival, also held in the capital. In that case, two photojournalists tragically lost their lives. The festival continued on the first day but was suspended on the second.

And that’s not even considering the deadly nightclub collapse in the Dominican Republic, which left more than 200 people dead, according to CNN Latinoamérica.

On X (formerly Twitter), videos of the bleacher accident during Quevedo’s concert have been widely shared.

Just recently, Shakira canceled one of her shows due to safety concerns, explaining that she wasn’t willing to put anyone at risk. Incidents like these are a strong reminder of the importance of proper safety protocols and venue responsibility at live events.
