The 2025 MTV VMAs are getting closer! A few weeks ago, we finally got the list of nominees who will be competing for the public’s votes and a chance to take home one of the iconic awards. Lady Gaga leads the pack with 12 nominations, followed closely by Bruno Mars and Kendrick Lamar (10 each), Rosé and Sabrina Carpenter (8), Ariana Grande and The Weeknd (7) and Billie Eilish (6).
The awards confirmed their first round of performers last week, with several returning after appearing at the 2024 edition. The lineup includes Sabrina Carpenter, J Balvin, Alex Warren, Ricky Martin, Busta Rhymes, and Sombr.
Colombian urban star, J Balvin, will perform ‘Zun Zun’ alongside Justin Quiles and Lenny Tavárez, and he’ll also debut his new live collaboration ‘Noventa’ with DJ Snake. Nominated for Best Latin Artist, Balvin could make history by becoming the most-awarded Latin artist in VMA history if he takes home his sixth Moon Person.
My plans for the night include listening to J BALVIN’s new ‘Mixteip’ after I watch this music video a few hundred times 🔂

Now, the second wave of performers for the 2025 MTV VMAs has been announced: Post Malone, Tate McRae, Conan Gray, Doja Cat, and Jelly Roll. For Post Malone, this marks his return to the VMA stage for the first time since 2018, when he was nominated for Best Collaboration. This year, he’s once again up for that category with Blake Shelton for their track ‘Pour Me a Drink.’
Doja Cat—a five-time VMA winner and Grammy winner—will also take the stage. After hosting the show in 2021, she’ll now deliver the first-ever televised performance of her single ‘Jealous Type’. It will be her first VMA performance since 2023.
Meanwhile, for Conan Gray and Tate McRae, this will be their debut on the VMAs main stage, marking a big milestone in both of their careers.

The competition, however, is going to be tough — both in the general categories and the Latin ones. (Bad Bunny has four nominations, for example.) And there’s also a legend in the mix: Ricky Martin, who will become the first-ever recipient of the Latin Icon Award. The Puerto Rican singer is another name included in this first round of confirmed performers.
And your 2025 #VMA Latin Icon Award recipient is… @RICKY_MARTIN!!! ❤️
