The much-awaited sequel to Wicked, the hit Broadway musical adaptation, now has an official title: Wicked: For Good. Directed by Jon M. Chu and starring Ariana Grande as Glinda and Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, the film is set to hit theaters on November 21, 2025, exactly a year after the first part’s release.
Initially called Wicked: Part Two, Universal Pictures decided to go with a more meaningful title. For Good comes from one of the most emotional songs in the musical’s second act.
If you’re not familiar with the stage show, ‘For Good’ is more than just a memorable tune—it’s a heartfelt song that captures the deep bond between Glinda and Elphaba. This hints that the sequel will explore their evolving friendship and how their lives become forever intertwined, setting the stage for an emotional and powerful continuation of the story.

The original Wicked musical is split into two acts, and the plan was always to have just two movies. But director Jon M. Chu dropped some hints during an interview with LOS40 that make us wonder if the Oz universe could expand even further.
When asked, “Could there be more films to keep the bond the cast has built?” his answer left room for possibility: “We’ll have to see. Right now, I’m focused on the second movie, which has a lot of depth, and I’m really proud of what we’ve done. If you think you know the characters now, wait until you see the consequences of some of their decisions… It’s very exciting. I’m sure we’ll come up with something.”
So, if you’re enchanted by the magic of the first Wicked movie, it sounds like there’s plenty more to be excited about — not just with the sequel but possibly even more adventures in Oz.
