Why Did Shakira Sell Her Miami Mansion? The Unpleasant Reason Behind It

The singer has been residing in Florida since April 2023

Personal circumstances led Shakira to leave Barcelona and move to Miami in April 2023. She might be moving again in 2024 if rumors are true that she has sold her large mansion there. However, this isn’t a sudden decision. The Colombian singer had been thinking about it for a while.

In fact, the first rumors about a possible move started back in 2018. Shakira’s Miami mansion, with its beautiful minimalist decor, was a highly attractive luxury property. But finding the right buyer who could meet the asking price, reportedly around $16 million, took some time.

It turned out to be a great deal for the singer, as she originally bought the property for just over $3 million. On social media, both fans and casual users are applauding the Barranquilla native for making such a smart investment, seeing it multiply in value in just a few years.

“This property offers a unique and convenient design with two separate wings for complete privacy, while also featuring large spaces for gatherings with friends and family,” the sales agency in charge of the mansion explained at the time.

On Sale!

Things seem to have changed with Marc Anthony’s involvement in the sale, as he might have helped Shakira find the right contacts to sell what had been her occasional home for years and, since 2023, her main residence.

The house sits on a 2,000-square-meter lot, with 750 square meters of living space, and has direct access to Biscayne Bay. Inside, it boasts 6 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms, a gym, billiards room, spa area, a luxury kitchen, and a beautiful swimming pool. The mansion, built in 1951, is located in an exclusive Miami neighborhood where celebrities like Jennifer López and Ricky Martin also live.

On the Spanish Telecinco show Fiesta, they pointed out that one of the challenges in selling the house is that “The bathrooms are below the water level. This causes the city’s sewage to flood the house during Miami’s heavy rains.” Who would have thought that could be a reason?
