One of the series that has really made waves this year is Netflix’s successful production, Baby Reindeer. It’s based on real events from the life of writer and comedian Richard Gadd, showing how he faced harassment from a woman during a difficult time in his life.
The story is depicted in a straightforward way, showing how unsettling and impactful it can be when someone becomes fixated on you.
The series introduces actors we don’t often see in mainstream shows, and their performances have left audiences impressed. From the obsessive Martha, played by Jessica Gunning, to the main character Donny, portrayed by Gadd himself. But one of the standout performances is by Teri, a transgender woman both on screen and in real life, played by Mexican actress Nava Mau.
Despite Baby Reindeer having premiered months ago, the artist continues to receive good news. She has just been nominated for an Emmy Award in the category of ‘Supporting Actress in a Limited Series, Anthology, or Movie’.
Nava Mau Makes History at the Emmys
Nava’s impressive work has earned her a significant place in the entertainment industry, and her Emmy nomination marks a historic moment. Whether she wins or not, Nava can proudly say she’s the first Mexican transgender woman nominated for these prestigious awards in entertainment.
This achievement not only showcases her talent but also advances equality for the LGBTQ+ community, which has gradually opened doors through perseverance. We’ll find out at the awards ceremony on September 15th if she takes home the prize.
