Even though we often try to dodge feeling scared, fear is a natural part of being human. It has played a key role in our survival. Why? Because it kicks in as a natural response to potentially dangerous situations, setting off an ‘alert’ that gets us ready to react. From an evolutionary standpoint, fear helps us steer clear of threats, ensuring our safety and survival.
We might think celebrities are fearless, but that’s not quite true. Like anyone else, they have built-in defenses against potential dangers. Ever wondered what makes celebrities afraid? Their fears can be as mundane as a cockroach or as complex as other serious concerns. Let’s take a look at some celebrity fears.
A few years back, when Anuel AA and Karol G were together, they went on a trip to the Caribbean Sea. During their vacation, Karol G shared a video where they were seen in the sea. What caught the attention was that Anuel seemed reluctant to let go of the chain that connected them to their boat.
La Bichota jokingly commented, “He’s afraid of the sea haha, he thinks there’s a shark everywhere…” So, it seems that the Puerto Rican’s fear might be of the sea (thalassophobia) or of sharks (selachophobia).
This fear is also shared by the handsome Brad Pitt and Justin Timberlake. The latter, according to People, witnessed a shark attack when he was a child, leading to his fear of them now.
During an interview on the Spanish TV show El Hormiguero, Aitana revealed that she is scared of flying. “When I have no other option but to take a plane, I do it. But otherwise, I prefer to travel everywhere by van, car, or train,” explained the artist. Her fear is so intense that she admitted to asking flight attendants before boarding if there will be turbulence. If the answer is yes, she chooses not to fly.
Aitana suffers from aerophobia, a fear of flying, which is quite common. This fear is also shared by Spanish actress Penelope Cruz, Jennifer Aniston, and Lenny Kravitz. In fact, the latter once opted for a 30-hour road trip from Phoenix to Mexico instead of a 3-hour flight.
Can you believe that the singer is afraid of fish? Yes, it’s true. She once had a panic attack that made her leave the sea because of these creatures. Her fear is called ichthyophobia.
The queen of pop is afraid of storms and lightning, a condition known as brontophobia. She also deals with one of the most common fears, claustrophobia, which is the fear of enclosed spaces. Actor Matthew McConaughey also suffers from this fear.
Bad Bunny’s ex has admitted that she has trypophobia. This means she has a strong dislike of looking at patterns, like clusters of small holes, whether they are evenly spaced or not.
Trypophobics are afraid of tiny little holes that are in weird patterns. Things that could set me off are pancakes, honeycomb or lotus heads (the worst!). It sounds ridiculous but so many people actually have it! I can’t even look at little holes – it gives me the worst anxiety.”

The renowned Mexican actress has a fear of snakes (ophidiophobia), which posed a significant challenge for her in the movie From Dusk Till Dawn. In one scene, she had to dance with a snake on her shoulders, which was quite daunting for her.
