Tiësto Makes Super Bowl History: First DJ to Hit the Stage

For the first time in the event's nearly 70-year history, a DJ will be the main entertainer

The Super Bowl 2024 is upon us, and we already know the competing teams, the halftime performers, the potential star attraction (Taylor Swift), and some historic moments it will feature. One of those historic moments is that, for the first time in the event’s nearly 70-year history, a DJ will be the main entertainer, and that DJ is Tiësto.

The NFL confirmed this before the conference finals, where the Kansas City Chiefs are set to face the San Francisco 49ers. Even Taylor Swift’s kiss with Travis Kelce and the possibility of her absence from the grand final couldn’t overshadow the fact that the Dutch DJ will be the first of his kind to perform before, during, and after the game.

Tiësto expressed his excitement, saying, “I’m excited to be a part of the Super Bowl LVIII!” Tiësto, 55. And it’s even more incredible that it’s in my favorite place —Las Vegas. Thank you to the NFL for having me. I cannot wait to party with you all at the big game!

This DJ performance is just one of many musical acts that will grace this major sporting event. The organizers have lined up a week full of musical performances, featuring artists from various genres, including renowned names like Steve Aoki, Zedd, Alesso, Tyga, Post Malone, and more.

Lineup

The concert lineup is packed with talent (The Chainsmokers, Kygo, Diplo, Lil Wayne, T-Pain, and others) throughout the week leading up to Super Bowl LVIII, which will take place at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Sunday, February 11 (early morning hours of February 12, Spanish time).

The NFL’s Tim Tubito, Director of Presentation and Event Content, explained, “Each year, we look to elevate the in-stadium experience for our fans, and with our first Super Bowl in Las Vegas, it seems only fitting to embrace the legacy of iconic DJs in this city by having Tiësto bring his signature style to our biggest event. As one of the most influential DJ/producers who helped define the culture of Las Vegas and electronic music around the world, Tiësto is the perfect artist to help us create an unforgettable gameday experience for our fans, players and viewers everywhere.”

All in all, along with Usher’s 14-minute performance, this promises to be an exciting weekend. Usher himself emphasized the significance of performing at such an event, stating, “It’s the honor of my life to finally check a Super Bowl performance off my bucket list. I can’t wait to deliver a show unlike anything the world has seen from me before.”
