Though she always does, Taylor Swift has reinforced her presence in the spotlight with the recent release of her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department, which is sparking millions and millions of comments on social media.

As usual for Swift, her surprise double studio work of 31 tracks makes some references that her fans have quickly linked to her previous relationship with Joe Alwyn, or her rumored fling with Matty Healy. However, her romantic life hasn’t been the only thing drawing attention here, as the singer of «Fortnight» may have brought back her feud with Kim Kardashian.

One of the songs from TTPD, «thanK you aIMee,» seems to be a reference to the socialite — it even capitalizes the letters of her name, forming «KIM.» A lyric that indeed has caused the Kardashian sister to lose 500k followers on her Instagram account.

The References to Kim Kardashian in Taylor Swift’s «thanK you aIMee»

In «thanK you aIMee,» Taylor writes to a supposed girl who bullied her, Aimee. She describes how she remembers her and how bad she made her feel, but also highlights how this issue has contributed to making her the person she is today.

«All that time you were throwin’ punches, I was buildin’ somethin’ / And I couldn’t wait to show you it was real / Screamed, ‘Fuck you, Aimee’ to the night sky as the blood was gushin’ / But I can’t forget the way you made me heal,» Taylor sings in the song.

A narrative that seems to resemble the feud Kardashian and Swift have maintained over the years since Kanye West, Kim Kardashian’s former husband until 2021, released «Famous,» where he refers to Taylor in a controversial lyric: «I made that bitch famous.»

After the song came out, the «Bad Blood» singer reacted to the verse during her Grammys acceptance speech for album of the year, stating that «there are going to be people along the way who will try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame.»

Something that didn’t seem to sit well with Kim, who claimed that Taylor knew «Famous» before it was released, even leaking a video of a call between Kanye and Taylor where the latter seemed to approve the song’s release, supposedly without knowing the lyrics. In 2020 it was confirmed that it was a manipulated clip, as the full call was leaked certifying that Taylor was unaware of the lyrics at that time.

Over the years, Swift has revealed in various interviews and through social media all the incidents that came after Kim’s leak of the call, where the public seemed to side with the reality star, calling Taylor a liar through the snake symbol. Something that undoubtedly motivated her to release Reputation (2017) a year later with snake imagery.

It seems that Kim might be somewhat tired of the beef with Taylor, and after the release of «thanK you aiMee,» the celebrity would just want to forget the issue. «She’s over it and thinks Taylor should move on. She doesn’t get why [Swift] keeps harping on. It’s been literally years,» a source revealed to People.
