Spanish rapper of Moroccan origin Morad El Khattouti El Hormi, simply known as Morad, has entered Brians 2 prison in Sant Esteve Sesrovires, Barcelona, this past Monday. According to sources from the prison center speaking to Europa Press, the 25-year-old artist has voluntarily entered.

Last February, the rapper accepted a two-year prison sentence for assaulting local police officers in Barcelona after they asked him in August 2021 to stop recording in the street without permission, and the rapper refused. Before the trial in front of the Barcelona Court, the defense of the author of «Pelele» reached an agreement with the Prosecutor’s Office and, after admitting the charges against him, accepted the sentence.

Likewise, the rapper’s lawyer also requested before the Prosecutor’s Office that he be exempted from the obligation to enter prison, something they accepted because the sentence did not exceed two years. But this is not the offense for which Morad went to the Brians prison center this Monday, but for a traffic offense for which he has been punished with six months in prison. According to sources consulted by Europa Press, Morad was tried for driving without a license.

These have not been the only altercations that the rapper has had with authorities or the justice system. In the summer of 221, during the pandemic across the country, Morad was caught by the police, when the curfew was still in effect. When the officers caught up with him after a pursuit, the rapper threatened them with a taser, considered a prohibited weapon. These actions led to the State’s accusation of six years in prison as the alleged perpetrator of an aggravated assault with a weapon and two more for the possession of a prohibited weapon.

Morad has become one of the leading Spanish-speaking rappers in recent years, accumulating millions and millions of views on his songs and creating his own culture and slang through them. The artist of Moroccan descent also collaborated on the popular BZRP Music Sessions with Argentine producer Bizarrap.
