Shakira will take the stage at the 2024 Copa América final next Sunday, which will be contested between the two victorious semifinal teams: Argentina, Canada, Uruguay, and Colombia.

If Colombia wins their semifinal this week, the singer from Barranquilla could join her national team. CONMEBOL Copa América 2024 announced on Tuesday, July 9, that Shakira will be the first musical performer during the halftime show of the Copa América final.

Following Shakira’s iconic act at the 2020 Super Bowl halftime show with Jennifer Lopez, a solo performance featuring her greatest hits and latest successes is highly anticipated. This won’t be her first time performing at a major sports event; in 2010, she performed her anthem «Waka Waka» at the opening ceremony of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, a song that has since become a classic in her repertoire.

Shakira will energize the stadium with her hit songs, and her performance is expected to blend her innovative style with themes that reflect the grandeur of South American football. This performance comes just before the start of her eagerly awaited tour, where she will bring her successful album ‘Las Mujeres No Lloran’ to stadiums in the United States.

«Shakira is an extraordinary South American star who has dazzled the entire world. Her songs are sung and danced to in every corner of the globe, making her art a global phenomenon that crosses borders and is enjoyed by millions of people. We are confident that her performance at the Copa América USA 2024 will enhance the message of healthy passion and unity through sport,» said Alejandro Domínguez, president of CONMEBOL.

When is the Copa América Final?

The international artist will be present at the CONMEBOL Copa América 2024 final, which is scheduled to take place on Sunday, July 14, at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida, at 8:00 PM (local time), with over 54,000 fans in attendance.
