Sean «Diddy» Combs, the renowned rapper and music producer, is facing a mounting series of lawsuits related to sex trafficking by force, racketeering conspiracy, fraud, coercion, and transporation to engage in prostitution, drawing significant media and public attention.

On october 15, his attorneys petitioned Judge Arun Subramanian in New York to compel prosecutors to disclose the identities of the alleged victims accusing him, asserting that Diddy requires this information to adequately prepare his defense for a trial scheduled for May 5, 2025.

“Mr Combs is forced to mount a defense against criminal allegations that the government does not seek to prove at trial, he is entitled to know that,” Diddy’s legal team stated. Without knowing the identities, “the government is forcing him, unfairly, to play a guessing a game – one made all the more challenging by the onslaught of baseless allegations that desperate plaintiffs are lodging at him (for the most part anonymously) in civil suits designed to exact a payoff from Mr Combs and others”.

On September 16, Combs was arrested on charges of sex trafficking and racketeering, currently remaining in pretrial detention after being denied bail multiple times. To date, over 120 individual complaints have been filed against him.

“These accusations came on the heels of more than a dozen lawsuits previously filed and currently pending, several of which have already been discredited but only after irreparably damaging Mr Combs’s character and reputation,” attorneys for the Bad Boy Records founds stated. «These swirling allegations have created a hysterical media circus that, if left unchecked, will irreparably deprive Mr Combs of a fair trial, if they haven’t already.”

These new claims have emerged following a lawsuit from his ex-girlfriend, Cassandra “Cassie” Ventura, in November 2023, where she alleged that she was a victim of abuse during their relationship. While that case was settled privately, new accusations have continued to surface, with a significant number of victims opting to remain anonymous, often identified as «Jane Doe» or «John Doe» in legal documents.

Diddy’s legal team argues that knowing the identities of the accusers is critical. In their correspondence to the judge, they noted that the allegations have been influenced by his celebrity status, wealth, and the negative publicity surrounding his legal troubles.

Tony Buzbee, the attorney representing the victims, has emphasized the serious nature of the allegations, stating that many of the alleged victims have encountered dangerous situations, including orgies and drug use in environments associated with Diddy.

«I think I’ll let the lawsuits speak for themselves,» said the Texas-based attorney to TMZ on Monday, October 7. «Everyone is focused on what other celebrities were involved, who will be named, who will be exposed—I don’t expect that to happen this week. I hope to file some lawsuits this week,» Buzbee expressed last week.

The repercussions of these allegations are profound, impacting not only Combs’ career but also the broader music industry, which has seen a rise in reports of sexual abuse in recent years. As the case moves toward litigation, it is likely that more details—and potentially more victims—will come to light, maintaining media and public interest.

Combs has pleaded not guilty to the indictment. He remains jailed pending trial. In fact, Diddy has consistently denied all allegations, characterizing them as baseless and financially motivated. His legal team is actively seeking ways to alter his current situation and prove his innocence in court.
