They say communication is key in any relationship: whether it’s friendship, love, or family. When everything is openly discussed, misunderstandings can be avoided.

Sabrina Carpenter followed this principle before accepting what could be her biggest career move yet. The artist is now the face of SKIMS‘ new campaign, Kim Kardashian’s lingerie brand. This decision has intrigued many ‘Swifties,’ who wondered why Taylor Swift‘s protégé would collaborate with her so to speak ‘enemy.’

But it seems the songwriter doesn’t do anything without careful consideration, and before getting involved in the project, she spoke with Taylor to ensure there were no issues between them. “I’ve been very, very communicative with her about that situation, and I just love her so much and support her till the end,” she explained.

“So it was no weirdness for me, but I know people will just say things because that’s all they have time to do,” Sabrina Carpenter admitted in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine. These statements aim to resolve the issue and clarify that their relationship, despite everything, maintains the same respect and friendship as always.

During the interview, she also admitted that she could never match Taylor Swift’s achievements: “I could never compare my life, my career, my trajectory to anything close to what she’s done.” She explained, highlighting her strong connection with The Tortured Poets Department. “She always puts out music at a time where I didn’t realize I needed those songs,” Carpenter says. “We’re very, very verbal with each other about our mutual love and admiration.… She played me ‘But Daddy I Love Him’ before it came out, and that’s also one of my favorites.”

Sabrina and Taylor’s Relationship

Sabrina Carpenter’s name really started to get noticed when she opened for Taylor Swift on The Eras Tour. That was a turning point for her career, and now we see them together all the time, from sports events to concerts and award shows.

Have you seen the video of Sabrina singing «Picture to Burn» when she was just a kid? It looks like she’s living every Swiftie’s dream. If her career keeps heading in the same direction. Carpenter’s latest single, «Espresso,» has even surpassed «Fortnight» by Taylor and the Post Malone track that’s been topping the charts for weeks. The big question is, will she keep following in their footsteps?
