Many singers have taken the leap into acting, with some finding huge success and others not quite as much. Beyoncé, Billie Eilish, Lady Gaga, Harry Styles, and Rihanna are just a few examples. What’s clear is that their talent and passion always stand out. Now, artists in urban music are joining the trend.

We’ve already seen Bad Bunny shine in David Leitch’s Bullet Train, and now it’s Ozuna’s turn. The popular Latin music star is making his movie debut with Odisea, a film based on his own life. This marks not only his first acting role but also his debut as an executive producer. The movie is set to premiere in 2025, and fans are already excited.

The film is inspired by his 2017 debut album, Odisea, which topped Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart for an incredible 46 weeks in a row. It tells the inspiring story of Juan Carlos Ozuna Rosado (played by Ozuna himself) and how he overcame many challenges to become a global star in Latin music. The film focuses on key values like perseverance, determination, and staying true to your roots.

“Music, Love, Sex, Family, Friendship, Past, Future, Success, Failure, Life, Faith… Coming Soon to Theaters,” the trailer’s emotional message reads, setting the tone for what promises to be an unforgettable cinematic experience.

Odisea

Ozuna shared that Odisea was created to inspire new generations to follow their dreams and never give up. In his words: “We all have the ability to achieve our goals, no matter the challenges we face along the way. I’m living proof of that.” This message of hope and resilience is the heart of the film, promising to connect deeply with audiences.

Directed by Spanish filmmaker Alexis Morante, Odisea was filmed in the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and New York. The film features a talented cast, including Jorge Lendeborg Jr., Dania Ramírez, Ana María Estupiñán, and Jencarlos Canela. Produced by Zumaya Cordero with Caribbean Films, the movie blends fiction and real-life moments to capture the story of a global star who, despite his success, stays true to his roots and values his family.

Ozuna: A Viral Hit in 2024

This movie is just one more achievement in what has been a standout year for Ozuna. His track ‘Tengo un Plan (Remix)’ featuring Key-Key ranked as the fifth most viral song on TikTok. On top of that, Ozuna joined forces with FloyyMenor and Cris MJ on the remix of ‘Gata Only,’ the most-played track on the platform, further cementing his influence in music and pop culture.
