Nicki Nicole has finally released Naiki, her highly anticipated album featuring nine tracks that take her back to her trap, rap, and hip-hop roots. It’s been just over a year since her last album, Alma, and now she’s sharing one of her most personal projects yet, following the release of singles like ‘Forty’ and ‘Sheite‘.

Trap, rap, and hip-hop are the genres that helped launch her career, and with this album, she’s honoring those beginnings. The title Naiki comes from a nickname given to her by her loved ones, showing she hasn’t forgotten where she comes from. The album also features two key figures in her journey: Khea and Duki.

Khea, who was her partner for a time, and they’ve now reconciled to show that music really can mend things. Duki, on the other hand, has been a steady source of support for Nicki throughout her career, from the very start.

Naiki

The nine songs on Naiki were produced by Tatool, and through them, we get to see both the Nicki of 2024 and the Nicki of 2019—the one who first started getting noticed with ‘Wapo Traketero’.

“Naiki represents the person I am in my everyday life—without fear, without restrictions. It’s the side of me that steps forward and speaks what needs to be said. I feel like this album captures that, you know? It shows the Naiki who takes risks, who’s making the music she loves, and putting out what she’s been wanting to share for a long time,” she explained in an interview with Variety.

“Until now, I didn’t feel like Naiki was fully present, but now she’s here more than ever. I feel ready to release this album, which touches on a lot of personal things, but in the genres of trap and rap, which mean a lot to me. I think people have been waiting for it, and I hope they enjoy it,” she added.

In the end, this is the most personal, intimate, and honest version of Nicki Nicole we’ve seen. She’s turned her new album into the favorite soundtrack for fans of trap, rap, and hip-hop—the genres that helped her break into the industry. So, have you picked your favorite song yet?
